SCAPPOOSE -- What started off as a sunny day in Scappoose quickly turned into a field day for the Silverton Foxes as they beat the host Indians 5-1 in a 5A nonleague boys soccer match Thursday.

Silverton, which improved to 4-0, kept steady possession throughout the game against Scappoose (0-4). It was more one-sided in the first half, though, when seniors Anthony Fleshman and Isaac Vargas scored to put the Foxes ahead 2-0.

Scappoose seemed to start pulling it together early in the second half on a goal by Blake Peterson, who converted after a free kick hit the crossbar to draw the Indians within 2-1. It was the first goal of the season for the Indians.

But Silverton put the game away when sophomore Britton Ullan became a man on a mission, scoring three goals in a 20-minute span for a 5-1 lead.

The Foxes have outscored their opponents 26-2 this season.
