Teams from around the state continue to prepare for the OSAA dance and drill championships.
Week 3 saw competitions hosted by Tigard and Sheldon.
Tigard competition
Banks secured the top spot in the 4A division for its performance of “How it Ends.”
“After all this hard work and months of team growth, I’m glad to know that it’s seen and appreciated,” said Genavy Bartlett, Banks captain.
The Lady Braves earned a score of 13.12. Astoria was second (13.06) followed by Woodburn (9.72).
“Our team has worked so hard this season, and it felt very rewarding to see all of our hard work pay off,” said Samantha Lockamy, Banks captain.
In the Show division West Linn brought home first place (14.50) with their routine “Breath of Life.” Putnam finished second (14.17) and David Douglas was third (14.06).
Competing for the first time during the winter Season, Westview earned first place in the 6A division. The Wildthings recorded a score of 16.72 to take top honors in the nine-team division. Sherwood finished a close second (16.56). Gresham finished third (15.78) with its performance of “Here I Am.” Rounding out the division was Lincoln (15.72), Tualatin (15.28), Mountainside (15.22), Sunset (14.78), Centennial (13.78), and Century (12.56).
The Lebanon Explosion earned first place (15.28) in the 5A division. Scappoose finished second (15.22) with its debut performance of “Finally!” Silverton was third (14.39) followed by Parkrose (13.33) and LaSalle (11.22).
Sheldon competition
The Hi-Steppers from West Albany earned first place (15.61) in the 5A division. North Eugene finished second (14.56). Thurston was third (12.89) followed by Corvallis (11.61).
Philomath took the top spot (13.56) in the 4A/3A/2A/1A division with its performance of “Glorious.” Marshfield finished second (12.83) and Grant Union was third (11.56).
West Salem and Sheldon were the only teams to compete in the 6A and Show divisions. They earned an 11.44 and 14.89 for their respective performances.
The winter dance competition schedule continues with events hosted by Parkrose and Sherwood on February 19.
