Trinity Lutheran celebrates a trip to the state tournament

Below are scores and recaps from today’s OSAA volleyball playoff matches. We will add more highlights as we receive them.

Crane 3, Bonanza 0

Adrian 3, North Douglas 1

Joseph 3, Lost River 0 – Cooper Nave had 19 kills and Aimee Meyers contributed 35 digs in the win for Joseph, which served at 100 percent for the match.

Umpqua Valley Christian 3, Prairie City / Burnt River 0

Trinity Lutheran 3, South Wasco County 0 – Senior setter Lexi Valentine and senior MB Ava Elliott connected well all match for the Eagles. Elliott and middle Aubree Weisner each had nine kills, while Charlotte Quinn, Ellie Cooper and Madison Hernandez were nearly perfect passing serve, as each ended the match with a 2.3 average passer rating.

St. Paul 3, Union 0 – The Buckaroos are back at state after a home sweep aided by 23 Isla Haven digs, 24 Audra Rose kills and 34 assists from Gracie Koch. She, Gabrielle Gleaves and Meredith Coleman were near-perfect servers. Paisley Miller shined for Union in the loss.

Crosshill Christian 3, North Clackamas Christian 0 – Ryland Minnick and Sierra Pousch teamed for 25 kills and sophomore setter Hannah Dripps added 35 assists and 12 digs in the sweep for Crosshill.

Powder Valley 3, Imbler 1 – A great atmosphere for volleyball pitted two great teams and two great communities. Imbler took advantage of Powder Valley errors to take Game 1, 25-23. PV played more its tempo the rest of the way to earn the win. Rachael Stirewalt had 14 kills for Imbler in the loss.

Western Christian 3, Monroe 0

Santiam 3, Clatskanie 0 -- Junior captain Natalie baker was a standout for Santiam in its sweep. Baker, a veteran on a team consisting mostly of freshmen and sophomores, had 10 kills, 12 digs, six blocks and passed a perfect 3.0.

Grant Union 3, Blanchet Catholic 1

Salem Academy 3, Bandon 0 – The defending champion Crusaders made it back to state thanks to a well-balanced effort keyed by 24 kills from Emma Brewer and 20 aces, eight from Perri Showalter.

Oakridge 3, Culver 0 – Sadie Snyder and Jade Snyder combined for 28 kills, 36 digs and four aces in the competitive sweep.

Lowell 3, Stanfield 0

Gaston 3, Heppner 0 – Halle Hisler had eight kills, nine digs, three aces and two blocks for Heppner, but too many unforced errors on defense doomed the Mustangs. “We may be done for this season, but this group of girls minus one will be back next season,” said Heppner coach Mindy Wilson.

Portland Christian 3, Willamina 0 -- The Royals are back in the “State 8” after an impressive sweep in which Alyssa Baird and Finley Marine had 28 kills, combined, and Payton Becker contributed 36 assists. Willamina had its three-year state tournament streak end, but will return all but one starter next year t make another run.

Sisters 3, Vale 0 – Top-seeded Sisters prevailed with relative ease behind 21 kills, 14 digs and four aces from Gracie Vohs. Gracelyn Myhre, who had 11 kills, 11 digs and five aces of her own, set the tone with a six-point run to open the match.

Corbett 3, Scio 1

Valley Catholic 3, St. Mary’s Medford 0 – The defending champions limited St. Mary’s runs and played with focus throughout in the sweep. RS Addie Emerson had eight kills, five aces and 15 digs, Willa Kayfes contributed 10 kills (hitting .529) in the win and Katiya Arellano and Jaya McGregor teamed for 28 assists in the win. Emma Johnson had nine kills and eight digs in the loss for St. Mary’s.

Burns 3, Warrenton 0 – The Hilanders earned another trip to the state tournament behind the steady hand of senior setter Ashley Wright, who had 34 assists as well as five aces and two blocks. Junior Akylah Kaino was strong in six rotations with 24 kills and 11 digs.

Cascade Christian 3, Westside Christian 2 – Cascade Christian prevailed in the back-and-forth affair, 15-12 in the fifth, as Maddie Todd had 18 kills, Poppy Freeman added 12 and Molly Griffin threw up 44 assists to go along with nine digs. Jeryn Hildenbrand had 30+ kills in the loss for Westside.

Santiam Christian 3, Horizon Christian, Tualatin 0

Creswell 3, Dayton 0 – Kimberlee Kelsey had 27 assists and five kills and Lizabelle Osborn contributed 15 kills, 11 digs and three aces for Creswell, which won the first two sends handily before getting a fight from Dayton in Game 3.

Pleasant Hill 3, Lakeview 0 – Ruby Jackson had 10 kills, Cheyenne Green added nine kills and 13 digs and Emily Krauss had 18 digs and two aces as the Billies swept to the win.

Marshfield 3, La Grande 0

The Dalles 3, Pendleton 0

North Bend 3, Astoria 0 – Mirra Riddle held down the back row and Emma Spalding and Lennon Riddle were impactful at the net for North Bend, which overcame uncharacteristic errors in the first two sets to sweep to the win.

Cascade 3, Estacada 0 – Jadyn Daviscourt celebrated birthday No. 18 with 15 digs and two aces in cascade’s win. The Cougars also for 15 kills and five digs from Kamryn Sande and 12 kills, four blocks and two aces from Annabelle Peterson.

Mazama 3, Stayton 0 – Great hustle, consistent serving and good defense sparked the Vikings to the home sweep. Isabella Lowe had 10 kills for the victors. Alexia Lowe contributed 20 assists and 13 digs.

Tillamook 3, Cottage Grove 1

Crook County 3, Philomath 0

Marist Catholic 3, Klamath Union 0 – Marist won in workmanlike fashion behind Giana Elgarico’s 14 kills, 12 digs and three aces. Lauren Rodman chipped in with 30 assists, seven digs and five aces. Jacie Madden, Keely Hall and Lilly Huck each had six kills in the loss for KU.

Crescent Valley 3, Putnam 0 – The defending champion Raiders dominated from the start and did not allow the Kingsmen to score more than nine points in any set. The team hit .532 thanks to terrific setting from Kam Mitchell (28 assists). Dani Street had 14 digs and Bella Jacobson led the hitters with 13 kills. Jacobson, Street and Taelyn Bentley had five aces each.

Summit 3, Churchill 1 – Avery Ruhl sparked the Storm in the pivotal third set (on her 18th birthday!). Summit used its speed, served aggressively and hit smart as the underdogs in this one.

South Albany 3, La Salle Prep 0

Thurston 3, Ridgeview 0

Crater 3, Centennial 0 – The Comets led start to finish in this one. Lanie Snow led a balanced attack with 10 kills and five blocks. Joslyhn Pope contributed 11 digs. Taylee Wilson had 28 assists.

Wilsonville 3, Mountain View 0 – Set scores were 26-24, 25-23, 25-20 for the Wildcats, who overcame Mountain View’s big block to win. “We just played well enough down the stretch of each set to pull out the win,” noted coach Scott Thompson. “I was very proud of how our team persevered throughout the match.”

Bend 3, Silverton 0 –Chloe LeLuge had 17 kills, 11 digs, three blocks and two aces for the Lava Bears, who rallied from a second-set deficit thanks to a Lacy Clothier serving run and never looked back.

West Albany 3, Eagle Point 0 – Eagle Point made every set close, but West Albany had enough to prevail at home. Kendyl Arnett led the way with 21 kills, 12 digs and four aces. Mylee Blake added 12 kills and 19 digs. Makynlee Schauffler had a nice match for EP, registering 30 assists and seven aces.

Jesuit 3, Grant 0 -- The 'Sader back row was on from the start, led by Addy Azavedo, and Sadie Ross was very efficient hitting (11 kills; .722) in the sweep.

South Salem 3, Central Catholic 1 – In a match where the scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, Central Catholic fought to send the match to five, but were denied by the Saxons, who executed well on offense and gave consistent effort throughout. Briella Mathis led the way with 16 kills and 21 digs. Malena Mathis added a dozen kills of her own.

Westview 3, Sheldon 2

Nelson 3, West Salem 1 – Eighteen aces helped Nelson overcome a scrappy West Salem team. Madi Andrews and Maddy Hills combined for 41 kills and 12 aces. Amelia Eubanks added 42 assists and eight digs. Lauren Johnson shined in the loss for West Salem.

Oregon City 3, Forest Grove 0 – The Pioneers started slowly and were taken to extras in Game 1, but finished strong to earn the sweep. OH Paige Thies was terrific in Game 2 to help OC establish control. She was supported by middles Brooke Williams and Olivia Adamo and right side Grace Landon, each of whom had strong offensive efforts.

Sherwood 3, Barlow 1 – Emily Fulton and Campbell O’Connell combined for 34 kills, 20 digs and five aces in Sherwood’s home win.

Sunset 3, St. Mary’s Acad. 1– Sunset shrugged off a Game 3 loss to win in four behind the big blocking middle duo of Avery Horne and Elle Gutierrez (17 blocks combined). Sara Davies paced the offense with 15 kills.

Sprague 3, Roseburg 1 – Brooke Friesen had a big match in Sprague’s win. The freshman had 13 kills, 15 assists, 15 digs and four blocks to lead the Olympians. Evie Morrissette also came up big with 17 assists, nine digs and two aces.
