Top-seeded Union survived a scare against Old Oregon League rival Echo in the quarterfinals of the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 2A girls basketball tournament Wednesday at Baker High School.

The Bobcats (25-2), who trailed No. 9 Echo by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, scored the last nine points of the game to win 50-44. Union, the 2A champion in 2022, advances to Friday's semifinals to play No. 5 Jordan Valley.

Kaelyn Shoemaker had 16 points and 17 rebounds and Sawyer Shoemaker had 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead Union. The Bobcats shot 23.9 percent from the field (11 for 46) and had 25 turnovers, but owned a 49-29 edge in rebounds.

Union led 16-12 at half, but Echo scored the first 11 points of the third quarter to pull ahead 23-16. Kenzie Hendrix made a three-pointer and Cam Estes hit a jumper to finish the run. Echo's lead grew as high as 30-20 when Estes made a layup with 2:09 left in the third quarter.

Kaelyn Shoemaker converted a three-point play to draw Union within 31-25 after three quarters. Sawyer Shoemaker made it 35-35 with a basket with 5:21 left, but Echo wouldn't surrender the lead, getting a jumper from Jaycee Campbell to open a 42-38 edge with 3:20 remaining.

Down 44-41, Union took control. Kaelyn Shoemaker's jumper gave the Bobcats a 45-44 lead with 1:33 left, and Taylor Browning split two pairs of free throws to make it 47-44. Browning's three-pointer with five seconds left sealed the win.

Hendrix scored 12 points and Campbell added nine points for Echo (22-7), which fell in the quarterfinals for the third time in four seasons.

In the teams' only previous meeting this season, Union won 55-53 in the Old Oregon playoffs.

No. 5 Jordan Valley 43, No. 4 Country Christian 32: The Mustangs (25-3) earned their first semifinal berth since 1999 by holding off a late rally by the Cougars (23-6).

Jalee Maestrejuan had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Meg Eiguren had 11 points and five rebounds and Kenzie Tuttle added 10 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for Jordan Valley.

The Mustangs went on an 11-0 run to lead 19-8 early in the second quarter. They extended the lead to 31-16 on a jumper by Eiguren midway through the third quarter.

But Country Christian fought back, closing to within 37-32 on a three-pointer by Grace Colvin with 2:56 left in the game. Tuttle hit a jumper to stem the tide, and Jordan Valley made four free free throws down the stretch to put it away.

Cara Mulhern had 10 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals for Country Christian, which lost in the quarterfinals for the third year in a row.

No. 3 Crane 54, No. 6 North Douglas 41: The reigning champion Mustangs (23-5) trailed by four points in the third quarter before taking control down the stretch to beat the Warriors (23-5) in a rematch of last year's final.

Crane advances to the semifinals for the fifth consecutive postseason – six counting the culminating week event of 2021 – to play No. 2 Imbler on Friday.

North Douglas led 30-26 but Crane responded, pulling ahead 35-32 after three quarters and opening a 45-35 lead on a layup by Claire Grant with 3:08 left in the game.

Ava Bowen had 17 points and six steals, Emily Clark had 16 points and Kaitlyn Siegner added nine points, 13 rebounds, six assists and nine steals for the Mustangs. Crane forced 30 turnovers, committing 24.

North Douglas' Brooklyn Cyr scored 28 points, making 11 of 31 shots from the field, including 6 of 15 from three-point range. She also had nine rebounds.

No. 2 Imbler 62, No. 7 North Clackamas Christian 58: The Panthers (23-4) outlasted the Saints (22-6) down the stretch to earn a berth in the semifinals.

North Clackamas Christian led 58-57 on a layup by Keslynn Turner with 39 seconds left. Imbler's Rachael Stirewalt made a jumper to put her team ahead 59-58 with 18 seconds to go.

Imbler forced a turnover, and after Olivia Haddock missed two free throws with seven seconds left, the Panthers' Jayda Cant rebounded, scored and was fouled, making it 61-58 with six seconds remaining.

Cant missed the ensuing free throw, but Imbler's Marlen Rivas rebounded. Haddock split two free throws with three seconds left for the final margin.

Cant (16 points, 12 rebounds) and Stirewalt (15 points, 18 rebounds, three steals) led the way for Imbler, which also got 11 points and four assists from Haddock. Keslynn Turner made five three-pointers and scored 28 points and Kaylee Turner had 19 points and 14 rebounds for North Clackamas Christian.
