Eighth-seeded McMinnville scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to build a three-run lead over No. 1 Sunset, then held off an Apollos rally to capture a 5-3 win. Sunset scored a two-out run on an error in the bottom of the seventh to pull within two runs and had runners on second and third before Grizzlies pitcher Mackenzie Roberts recorded her only strikeout in three innings of work to end the game. Ariel Glynn allowed two runs on two hits in the first four innings. Glynn ended a Sunset threat in the sixth inning with an unassisted double play on a line drive after she moved to first base. Kaylee Dinger was 2 for 4 with two RBIs for McMinnville, while Vivian Moore and Genevieve Thomas also recorded two hits each. Kaia McKenna had two hits and scored two runs for Sunset, which was outhit 10-3 by the Grizzlies. McMinnville got to Sunset freshman Sydney Arnold, the Metro League pitcher of the year, for four runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. The Grizzlies also beat Sunset 4-3 on April 1. ...

Liz Jacobs, Paisley Rhyne and Berkleigh Tuck each had two hits and three RBIs as Jesuit cruised past Roseburg 15-1 in five innings. Tuck hit a three-run homer in the third inning. The visiting Indians led 1-0 through one inning, but Jesuit broke out with five runs in the second, three in the third and seven in the fourth. All nine Jesuit starters scored at least one run and five players had two hits. Pitchers Aubrey Rhodes and Makena Boynay combined to limit the Roseburg offense. Terra Singleton had two of the Indians’ four hits and scored their only run on a wild pitch. The second-seeded Crusaders have won their three playoff games by a combined score of 43-1. ... Back-to-back RBI singles by Reese Chioino and Daisha Cornwell in the second inning gave Sherwood all the offense it needed to beat West Linn 3-1. McKenna Parmalee added a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for an insurance run after the Lions had pulled within 2-1 in the third. Destiny Cornwell pitched the first three innings for the Bowmen, then Presley Sarono-Ramos closed things out by allowing just one hit in four innings, striking out seven. The third-seeded Bowmen improved to 27-3 on the season. Kendall Atwood singled in West Linn’s only run. ... North Medford broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with three runs and held off West Salem 3-1. Natalie Tlascala’s sacrifice fly gave the Black Tornado the lead, then Becca Tuivanu and Caileigh Raines lashed back-to-back doubles to plate two more runs. North Medford got eight hits from six different players. Courtney Gills homered in the sixth inning for the visiting Titans. Julia Edwards scattered four hits over seven innings to get the win for North Medford. Braeli Martin pitched the complete game for West Salem, with all three runs she allowed going as unearned.

Top seed Ridgeview beat Intermountain Conference rival Bend for the fourth time this season, winning 3-0 to advance to the semifinals and end the Lava Bears’ bid for a championship repeat. The Ravens posted their 10th shutout of the season. Brezlyn Hagemeister threw a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts and three hits allowed. Hagemeister doubled in a run in the third to break a scoreless tie. The Ravens added two runs in the fifth on an error and a single by Brooklyn Lick, who had two of Ridgeview’s four hits. Pitchers Janelle Guiney and Taylor Aldrich combined to allow four hits, but the Lava Bears couldn’t get the bats going. Bend had two runners in scoring position in both the second and third innings, but couldn’t get them home. ... Thurston scored eight runs in the second inning en route to a 12-2 win in six innings against Wilsonville. Kassy Anderson punctuated the second inning with a grand slam. Gabriella Montes and Kendall Miller closed the game out with solo homers in the sixth. Montes also scored four runs. Syren Ferguson went 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Pitcher Kasey Ogan allowed six hits and one earned run in six innings. Paige Hibbard was went 2 for 2 for the Wildcats, while Addi Smith doubled in a run. ...

Crater only had one hit Friday, but did enough to pull out a 2-1 win over Eagle Point. It was the Comets’ fourth victory over Eagle Point this season. Crater scored an unearned run in the first inning on two walks and an error, then added a run in the third on a single and an error. Pitcher Ally Nottingham scored the first run for Crater and allowed six hits and one unearned run. Danika Brackett scored the winning run in the third inning when she reached on an error and came home on Taylor Ryan’s single. Eagle Point pitcher Brylee Leonardo took an unlucky loss with one hit allowed and both runs unearned. Leonardo also hit a long drive down the left field line in the fourth inning that could have been a three-run homer but was just foul. Sarah Estes and Riley Jacoby had two hits each for the Eagles. ... Abi Troutman’s two-run triple in the second inning opened the scoring and No. 5 Canby never trailed in a 5-2 win over 13th-seeded Caldera. Troutman also singled and scored three times. Alli Hayzlett struck out 10 batters and contributed offensively with a single and an RBI walk. Natalie Kern added a sacrifice fly. The Wolfpack scored their only runs on wild pitches in the third inning. Caldera pitcher Elaina Santos Wagner doubled and scored a run.

St. Helens advanced to the semifinals in its bid for a first state championship since 1996, blanking Junction City 13-0 in five innings. Addy Ellis went 4 for 4 with a home run, double, three runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Lions. Addi Andrehsen and Eme Curaming each went 2 for 3 and combined to score five runs. Hally Heys and Madelyn Hancock recorded two RBIs each. Curaming went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits and striking out 10 without a walk. Mya McNamer had two of the Tigers’ three hits. ... After three scoreless innings for both teams, No. 3 Astoria busted out with eight runs over a three-inning span to down Henley 8-0. Kyla Lindell had three of the Fishermen’s 11 hits and drove in two runs. Lyla Carlson also had two RBIs. Henley committed four errors, leading to five Astoria runs. Maddie Wilkin threw a complete-game shutout, posting nine strikeouts while allowing only two hits. Gracie White had both hits for the Hornets. ...

Katelyn Boatman went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs as Pendleton took another step toward repeating as state champs with a 4-2 victory over Marist Catholic. Kendall Murphy shined in the circle, giving up one earned run on three hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks. Marist Catholic led 2-1 in the fourth inning, but Boatman tied the game with a single and an RBI groundout by Kelsi Primus gave the Buckaroos the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning. Murphy helped her own cause with a run-scoring single in the fifth. Lera Basom had an RBI triple for the Spartans, and Tizita Martin gave Marist Catholic the lead with a single in the fourth. The Spartans had upset No. 4 Cascade in the previous round. ... On Saturday, No. 2 La Grande rallied for three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat No. 10 Scappoose 4-2. Trailing 2-1 with two outs and nobody on base, the Tigers got singles from Paige Allen and Marti Anderson and a walk-off three-run homer by Carlee Strand. Scappoose led 2-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Brooklyn Schmidt. Anderson hit a run-scoring double in the fifth to make it 2-1. Strand pitched a seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and three walks to earn the win. Saige Casey took the loss for Scappoose.

No. 1 Scio scored five runs in the first inning, six in the second and five more in the third as the Loggers routed Douglas 16-2 in five innings. The visiting Trojans walked dominant Scio hitter Myleigh Cooper four times, but the other Loggers made them pay. Skylur Brown launched two home runs, while Cam Dalke went 2 for 3 with a homer and five RBIs. Macy Johnson added two hits and three RBIs. Cooper pitched a complete game, allowing two unearned runs in the second inning and striking out eight. Scio (26-1) has scored 401 runs this season, an average of 14.9 per game, with many of those coming in shortened run-rule games. The Loggers will now take on South Umpqua in a rematch of last year’s championship game, which was won 9-1 by South Umpqua. Cadence Knebel and Ally Hook each had a hit and a run scored for Douglas. ...

Charly Upmeyer drove in the winning run with a single in the fifth inning and pitcher Gabby Chupp settled down after a shaky start as Dayton edged Banks 3-2. Banks scored two runs on three hits in the first inning, but only recorded one more hit the rest of the game off of Chupp. Chupp also drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly. Lou Auvil went 3 for 3 with two runs scored for the Pirates, while Sophie Sweeney had two hits. Sydney Phillips and Khloe Long each registered RBIs in the first inning for the Braves. Three of Banks’ four hits were doubles. ... Taylor Bradfield shut down a potent Vale offense, tossing a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Yamhill-Carlton beat the visiting Vikings 3-0. Cecelia Petraitis blasted a solo home run for the Tigers, while Ella Amerson went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. The Tigers, who started the season 0-5 but have gone 21-3 since, recorded their 11th shutout of the season. Izzy Maag had the only hit for a Vale team that hadn’t been shut out this season and averaged more than 11 runs per game. Grace Chamberlain allowed five hits and two earned runs in the loss. ... Reigning champion South Umpqua powered into the semifinals with a dominant 11-0 victory over Glide in five innings. The Lancers scored five times in the first and third innings. Pitcher Reaghan Gilbert allowed one hit and struck out nine in the shutout win. Gilbert also hit a two-run double. Danika Richardson went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. Mady Pratt also went 2 for 3 and had two RBIs. Peyton Geiger had the only hit for the Wildcats, who finish the season 18-8.

Two-time defending state champion Grant Union pounded out 17 hits in a 14-5 win over Heppner, which came in as the No. 1 seed in the bracket. Reece Jacobs led the way, going 4 for 5 with two home runs and four RBIs. Addy Northway and Savanah Watterson also went deep for the Prospectors. Lilly Rockhill and Skylar McKay had three hits each as No. 9 Grant Union scored two runs in the first inning, five in the second and two in the third to lead 9-3 through three innings. The Prospectors also scored five times in the sixth. Ava Gerry went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead Heppner. Isabel Payne also homered. The league rivals had split a pair of games in the regular season. ... Ava Sams crushed a three-run homer and drove in six runs as West-McEwen shook off six defensive errors to beat Lost River 7-2. Brielle Ward allowed two unearned runs and struck out 13 to earn the win for the TigerScots. Ward and Megan McLouth each had two hits and catcher Lily Langford scored three runs. Langford also threw out two runners on the basepaths. Avery Turner smacked two doubles and drove in a run for the Raiders. ...

North Douglas raced out to a six-run lead against Clatskanie, then held on late to record a 7-6 win. The Warriors won their 14th consecutive game and got revenge for their last defeat, which came April 14 to Clatskanie. Brooklyn Cyr went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs with a double and a triple, while Payton Rabuck was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. North Doulgas led 6-1 through three innings and pushed the lead to 7-1 in the fifth. The Tigers rallied for four runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth. Cyr threw a complete game for the Warriors, stranding the tying run at second base in the seventh with a game-ending strikeout. Pitcher Joey Sizemore was 3 for 3 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs scored for the Tigers. Sizemore also struck out 10 batters. Olivia George had three and drove in two runs for Clatskanie. ... Jocelyn Brault drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning as Salem Academy beat Regis 6-5 for its 19th consecutive win. Addie Brault tied the game with an RBI double earlier in the inning. She had two doubles in the game and recorded three RBIs. Regis scored five runs in the top of the third inning to lead 5-0, then the Crusaders slowly worked their way back into the game. Addi Bennett struck out 13 in complete-game effort in the circle. Regis pitcher Addie Bishop hit a two-run homer for and struck out 11 Crusaders. Hadley Foster went 3 for 4 for the Rams.
