Jackson Romero put home his 11th goal of the season while Elliot Schwartz scored in overtime to help No. 1 Lakeridge knock out the defending state champions in No. 9 Jesuit 2-1. Sarp Erdem had the assist on the game-winning goal and Pacers goalkeeper Olander Tangkjaer made two big saves in the second half.

No. 5 Grant survived a wild finish by taking the PKs 3-2 over No. 4 Central Catholic, winning the match 2-1. The two sides were scoreless through regulation and the first half of overtime when the Generals got on the board in the 92nd minute off a deep throw-in that was headed in by Ewan Massimino. With 10 seconds left, Central Catholic had a corner kick that was knocked out, but a mad scramble ensued. Grant tried to clear it to the far side, only for Rams senior Thomas Taylor to be there and he crossed it in again and found Stellan Blomberg for the goal nearly at the buzzer to tie it at one. In PKs though, Grant keeper Travis Lobdell stepped up by saving the Rams’ second and third attempts. The fourth attempt was stopped initially as well, but the ball had so much back spin that it hit the ground and rolled into the net for Central to make it 3-2 Grant. On the fourth kick, Grant had its shot blocked, but Lobdell came up with a third save for the win.

After going into halftime scoreless, No. 3 Beaverton got a couple goals from Gio Ruano to take out No. 11 Ida B. Wells. One of the goals was on a penalty kick earned by Cole White for the Beavers. … No. 7 Lincoln scored first thanks to Ethan Marsal, but that wasn’t enough as No. 2 West Linn eventually tied the match and won 5-4 in PKs to advance. In the 56th minute, Lions senior Zander Morris passed to Isaac Babalai who scored to tie it at one. The two went scoreless the rest of the way to force PKs. West Linn brought in Finn Ryan off the bench to be the keeper for the shootout, and he stopped the first Lincoln shot to open the door. The Lions attackers did the rest to win it 5-4.

No. 1 Summit cruised once again in the quarterfinals of the state tournament, taking down No. 8 Silverton 3-0. The Storm outshot the Foxes 17-2 with goals coming from Will Newton, Gabe Chauvin and Zach Bradley. Sam Jacobsen assisted the first goal, followed by Jack Mitchell and Landen Barlow with the other two assists. … No. 5 Corvallis waited until the last minute, but the Spartans got it done against rival No. 4 Crescent Valley on the road with a 1-0 win. Faisal Alsharif scored the game-winner unassisted for Corvallis in the closing minute.

For the ninth consecutive year, No. 3 La Salle Prep will be playing in the 5A semifinals after taking out No. 6 Ashland 2-1. A little over 10 minutes into the match, the Falcons scored on a corner kick sent in from River Nichols to Luka Skoro who headed in the goal. Ashland tied things up in the 35th minute when Luis Caballero Uhtoff scored off a long throw-in by the Grizzlies. The match stayed level until 7:55 to go when Nichols sent in another cross that was headed by Skoro, except this time it was a pass to Declan O’Brien who put it away for what was ultimately the game winner. ... Juan Gomez scored a goal off an Alex Fulgencio assist to help No. 2 Centennial advance past No. 10 McKay 1-0. Eagles goalkeeper Luke Young aided the shutout effort with three saves.

Layne Worrell scored on a penalty kick to help No. 3 Henley take down No. 6 Newport/Waldport 2-0. … No. 10 North Marion tied the match at one against unbeaten No. 2 The Dalles with only a couple minutes left, and eventually took home the win 3-2 in penalty kicks for one of the biggest upsets in the state tournament this year.

3A/2A/1A

No. 1 Catlin Gabel had no problem at home with No. 8 Blanchet Catholic, picking up the win 4-0. … No. 5 Creswell pulled off the small upset of No. 4 Dayton in overtime thanks to a couple incredible goals. The first was from Brady Pratt who got a pass from Matthew Jenkins and fired a shot from 35 yards out that found the net. Dayton eventually tied it up at one to go to OT. And in the extra time with only 18 seconds left, Pratt swung his legs up on a bicycle kick attempt off a rebounding throw-in that floated over the huddle and into the net for the game-winning goal.

No. 3 Westside Christian hung for a win in PKs over No. 6 St. Mary’s Medford to win the match 4-3. The Eagles got on the board first when Alexis Gonzalez converted on a set piece from Luke Ziekle. The Crusaders tied it one before the combo of Eagles scored only in reverse with Ziekle finding the net on a header and Gonzalez with the assist. However, the Crusaders were physical and scored twice to go up 3-2. But late in the second half, Westside got its equalizer from Levi VanderGeissen when he rose above the defense for a header off a Gonzalez set piece. It eventually went to PKs where Eagles goalkeeper Ben Devlin made two saves to allow them to win 5-4 and advance to the semifinals for the third consecutive year. The Eagles had never made the semis until 2023.

Ryder Sendecke scored a hat trick to help No. 2 Oregon Episcopal fly by No. 7 Riverside 6-0 to reach the semifinals. Sendecke scored two of his goals unassisted in the first half with a goal from Cameron Fasold sandwiched in between. Sendecke started the second half with an assist to Lincoln Weiler that made it 4-0 before Sendecke’s final goal of the night made it 5-0 and put the game away early.
