The first round of the 3A and 1A boys basketball state tournaments began Tuesday around the state.

Check out a quick recap of the games and a look at the second-round matchups coming up on Friday, Feb. 27.

3A

No. 17 Banks 60, No. 16 Lakeview/Paisley 42: Banks survived the long trip south thanks to 27 points from Ryder Dias. Fisher King chipped in 10 points and Mason King had eight.

No. 13 Elmira 60, No. 20 Corbett 48: Elmira advanced to round two thanks in part to 18 points from Carsen Adams and 17 from Gaven Grover. Corbett was led by Armin Mehanovic who had 27 points.

No. 14 Oregon Episcopal 62, No. 19 Scio 55: OES trailed entering the fourth, but outscored Scio 22-13 in the final frame to advance. Porter Hagerman had nine of his 21 points in the fourth for the Aardvarks, and Max Holzman also finished with 21 points. Brycen Zosel led the Loggers with 23 points.

Second round (Feb. 27)

No. 17 Banks at No. 1 Westside Christian, 7 p.m.

No. 9 St. Mary’s Medford at No. 8 Douglas, 6 p.m.

No. 12 Neah-Kah-Nie at No. 5 Pleasant Hill, 6 p.m.

No. 13 Elmira at No. 4 Riverside, 6 p.m.

No. 14 Oregon Episcopal at No. 3 Valley Catholic, 7 p.m.

No. 11 Burns at No. 6 Blanchet Catholic, 5:30 p.m.

No. 1 Union 68, No. 32 Triangle Lake 36: Union raced out to a 23-8 lead after the first frame and didn’t look back. KJ Klebaum had 11 of his team-high 22 points in the first. Dawson Miller and Joey McCraw each had 12 points as well for the Bobcats. Porter Overbaugh led the Lakers with 18 points, Ivan Surcamp had 10.

No. 17 Rogue Valley Adventist 70, No. 16 St. Paul 59

No. 9 Crosspoint Christian 86, No. 24 Klickitat/Glenwood 50: Davis Hartwell, an Oregon State golf commit, knocked down eight 3-pointers to help Crosspoint Christian advance to the second round. Hartwell finished with 30 points while Brock Thorne had 19 and nine rebounds, and Caden Moritz had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Klickitat/Glenwood was led by Talon Cabral with 13 points.

No. 8 Chiloquin 81, No. 25 Harper Charter 47: Harper Charter kept the game tied after the first frame, but Denver Bravo went to work from there for Chiloquin, finishing with 30 points on the night with seven made 3-pointers. Edward Jones had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Lalan Wilder had 14 points to help out the Panthers.

No. 5 Valor Christian/Tualatin Academy 62, No. 28 Willamette Valley Christian 31: All 11 players were able to score for the Knights in their runaway win over Willamette Valley Christian. Isaac Sady and Cole Moore each had 10 points as the Knights knocked down eight 3-pointers as a team.

No. 12 Eddyville Charter 51, No. 21 Southwest Christian 41: Eddyville Charter was hitting from deep to keep Southwest Christian at bay in the first-round win. Nixon Clendenin was the catalyst with 26 points for the Eagles, and Darian Schultz had 15. 

No. 13 Umpqua Valley Christian 61, No. 20 Powder Valley 49: Umpqua Valley Christian only led by two going into the fourth, but the Monarchs won the final frame 23-13 to put the game away. Caleb Saylor led them with 18 points, followed close behind by Teagan Sprague with 15, Justice Bendele with 13 and Max Chrisenberry with 11. Stran Bingham led the Badgers with 13 points.

No. 4 North Clackamas Christian 68, No. 29 CS Lewis Academy 41

No. 3 South Wasco County 82, No. 30 Jordan Valley 38: Jason Hull fought through a box-and-one from Jordan Valley all night to score 28 points while handing out five assists and grabbing four steals. Ryker Thompson added 21 points and Rowen Huff had 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Redsides. Tate Hawker led the Mustangs with 13 points.

No. 14 Joseph 55, No. 19 Condon 43

No. 11 Adrian 66, No. 22 Horizon Christian 47: Adrian advanced at home behind 21 points from Brooks Martin and another 19 points Trey Bayes. The Antelopes only led by eight going into the fourth before they outscored the Hawks 28-12 in the final frame. Charlie Haynie led Horizon Christian with 16 points, Ben Chapman had 14 and Landon Whitaker had 11.

No. 6 Open Door Christian 64, No. 27 New Hope Christian 46: Open Door rolls on after Ethan Zelenivskiy had 22 points to lead the Huskies. Ben Buzhduga and Zach Thibodeaux each had 18 points. Nathan Grim had 12 points for the Warriors, Joey Lyon added 10.

No. 7 Days Creek 60, No. 26 Grand view Christian 39

No. 23 Prairie City/Burnt River 79, No. 10 Pilot Rock 78 (OT): Prairie City/Burnt River was behind early, lost the lead late and went to overtime, but eventually won out thanks to a second bucket from Chet Workman that proved to be the game winner. Ritter Rookstool had 16 points, Kingdon Mitchell-Kirby had 15, Sawyer Quinton had 15 and Noah Kenyon had 14 for the Panthers. Sun Schimel led the Rockets with 27 points.

No. 18 Nixyaawii 65, No. 15 Ione/Arlington 60: Kash Bronson led a third-quarter rally for Nixyaawii and the Golden Eagles hung on in the fourth for the road win. Bronson finished with 13 points, but Nixyaawii was led by Irvin Stewart with 21 points and nine rebounds. Jeffrey Van Pelt added 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kyan Webb led the Cardinals with 19 points.

No. 2 Country Christian 55, No. 31 Alsea 27: Country Christian was in control behind a scattered scoring effort throughout the night. Ryan Gordon was the scoring leader though with 13 points for the Cougars, and Andrew Ives chipped in 10. Kairavan Ferguson led Alsea with nine points.
