Highlights from Wednesday's first round of the 6A girls basketball playoffs:
Southridge senior guard Sara Mangan tied the state record for career three-pointers in leading the Skyhawks to a 76-30 home win over Roseburg. Mangan made five three-pointers in a 31-point outing, tying her for the all-time lead at 359 with Taycee Wedin of La Salle Prep (2015-18). The Skyhawks led 27-4 after the first quarter. Maddie Newton and Ainsley Curollo scored 11 points each for Roseburg. … Benson dominated Westview 87-25 behind big games from Kemara Phillips (23 points, eight steals, three assists) and Samarah Massey (22 points, five rebounds, seven assists). Jayla Lackey had 15 points and eight rebounds and Kyoko Solis-Beasley added 13 points (three three-pointers). Claire Masury scored eight points for Westview, which improved from five to 11 wins this season. …
Kaylor Buse racked up 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead No. 2 West Linn past Jefferson 71-30. Kinley Buse scored 16 points and Reese Jordan added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists. Mackenzee Lawrence had 17 points for Jefferson. … No. 4 South Medford cruised past Newberg 61-26. Mayen Akpan put up 24 points and Malia Taulani added 12 points. … Century took out Barlow 66-44, getting 20 points from Kiara Green and 17 points from Mia Brownson. Barlow's Adia Fancher hit seven three-pointers and scored 25 points. … Beaverton made 26 of 31 free throws in beating Lincoln 72-60. Ruby Foord scored 22 points – 20 in the second half – and Mila Watson added 18 points for Beaverton. Lincoln led 33-32 early in the second half before the Beavers went on a 22-3 run to lead 54-36 entering the fourth quarter. Jasa Lindsey scored 32 points (four three-pointers) and Siri Lindsey added 17 points for the Cardinals. …
