Freshman Kendall Hopkins-McGlothen buried a 3-pointer at the overtime buzzer to give No. 17 Benson a shocking 74-73 upset win over No. 1 Southridge to advance to the state tournament at the Chiles Center in Portland. Hopkins-McGlothen scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime as the Astros chipped away after trailing most of the game. Southridge led 42-30 at halftime and held a seven-point lead through three quarters before Benson rallied to tie the game. Richad Hudson added 15 points for the Astros, while Malu Niko had 11. Benson has won 11 games in a row. Elijah Thompson compiled 22 points and Ryder Zanon had 20 for the Skyhawks, who are still seeking a first-ever trip to the state championship game. ...
No. 2 Central Catholic will be the top seed headed to the Chiles Center as the Rams pushed an eight-point halftime lead to 20 through three quarters and downed South Salem 86-65. Zamir "Bam" Paschal posted a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists for the Rams while Isaac Bongen and Jalen Nicholson dropped in 20 points apiece. Teagan Scott led the No. 15 Saxons with 21 points while Tko Westbrook added 20. ... Oregon City jumped out to a 19-point lead at halftime and never looked back in a 72-38 win over No. 19 Sunset. The third-seeded Pioneers head to the state tournament in search of their first-ever boys basketball championship. Alijah Scott hit four 3-pointers and scored 23 points to lead Oregon City, followed by Eli Hopkins (16 points) and Alarion Scott (15 points). Shay Thompson had 21 for the Apollos. ...Jemai Lake poured in 31 points as No. 4 Tualatin denied underdog Gresham a shot at an upset bid, winning 80-53 to head back to the Chiles Center. Pat Vialva Jr. scored 18 for the Timberwolves, who won back-to-back state titles in 2022 and 2023. Jeremiah Pichon had 14 to lead the 20th-seeded Gophers. ...
No. 5 Sherwood got past No. 12 West Linn 49-41 in a defensive battle for its 17th consecutive win. Brody Rygh scored 15 for the Bowmen while Avery Johnson hit 7 of 10 free throws and contributed 14 points. Sloan Baker paced the Lions with 14 points. ...Joe Stimpson (15 points) and Major Williams (14 points) led a balanced effort as sixth-seeded Jesuit raced out to a 22-5 lead and were never threatened in a 61-42 victory over No. 11 Westview. The Crusaders, who finished as runners-up last year, are looking to advance to the state championship game for the 11th time since 1999 under head coach Gene Potter. Ian Bautista scored 18 points to lead the Wildcats, who went 0-3 versus Jesuit this season.
Grant joined Benson in pulling a road upset Friday, beating No. 7 Lake Oswego 75-68. Sophomore Malik Mason went 12-for-13 from the free-throw line and scored 27 points for the Generals, with freshman Abraham Cogan contributing 18 points and 10 rebounds. Grant has gone 17-3 since starting the season 2-4. Jackson Freeman had 18 points for the Lakers and Liam Rigney pitched in with 15. ... R.J. Barhoum's 3-pointer with 5.3 seconds left in the second overtime lifted No. 8 Clackamas to a dramatic 74-72 win over rival Nelson. Barhoum, who had a game-high 26 for the Cavaliers, also hit three free-throws with 20.5 seconds remaining to pull his team within 72-71. Syrius Owens contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks and Max Martinov scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished eight assists for the Cavaliers. Lebanon hung with top seed Crook County for a while in the first half, but the Cowboys (25-1) eventually exerted their will and ran away with a 73-55 victory over the No. 16 Warriors to advance to the state tournament in McMinnville. Bryce Lowenbach led the way with 24 points for Crook County, which finished fourth at the 4A tournament last year before moving up a classification this season. Gabriel Lopez made four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points. Gunner Miller and Finn VandenBos each had 15 points for Lebanon. ... No. 15 Centennial scored 32 points in the fourth quarter and pulled away late to stun No. 2 West Albany 89-74, ending the Bulldogs' 18-game winning streak. Drake Walsh made 18 of 22 free throws — including 12 of 14 in the final frame — on the way to 28 points to lead the Eagles, who were 9-12 just over two weeks ago and needed to win their last four games of the regular season to squeak into the playoffs. Sincere Powe scored 20 for Centennial, while Dakari Mitchell chipped in with 14. Jonah Laselle had 21 points and Rob Southard added 20 for West Albany, which led by as many as nine points in the second quarter before the game turned. ...

Jayden Hall had 11 of his 19 points in the second quarter, when the Broncos outscored Churchill 27-3. Varryk Hardges had 17 and Fuzzy Montague 16 for Parkrose. Randy Gutierrez led the Lancers with nine points. ... Thurston outscored Ridgeview 37-20 in the second half to capture a 57-40 win and move on to McMinnville. Leo Filipe led the No. 4 Colts with 16 points and seven rebounds. Lucas Labounty had 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. No. 1 Scappoose improved to 20-5 with a 61-48 victory against Klamath Union to move on to the state tournament in Forest Grove. The Indians have not reached the state championship game since winning the 4A title in 2015 and are hoping to improve on last year, when they reached the final eight but went 0-2 at the tournament. ... Junior Cooper Gagnon scored 23 of his game-high 32 points in the first half as 15th-ranked Hidden Valley pulled the upset over No. 2 Newport, 80-62. The Mustangs led 42-28 at halftime and ran away late after the Cubs got within nine through three quarters. Hidden Valley made 13 3-pointers on the night, including five by Gagnon, four by James Barrett (14 points) and three by Jesse Connell (15 points). Newport was led by 28 points from Aaidyn Bokuro and 21 from Easton Herrmann. ... Five players scored between 11 and 13 points each in No. 3 Molalla's 71-61 win versus defending champion Baker. Kurt Pederson posted a triple-double, with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists while Tadyn McGinnes scored 13 points, Garrett Brusseau and Camdyn Morey had 12 each and Grant Brusseau had 11. The White Buffaloes shook off an upset loss in last year's round of 16 to earn a trip to Forest Grove. The Buckaroos bounced back from a 2-9 start to the season to finish 14-14. ... St. Helens made 12 3-pointers and kept No. 12 Philomath at arm's length all night, winning 62-50. "We controlled the game with tempo and had great balance offensively," Lions coach Trenton Minich said. Andrew Waite posted a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for fifth-ranked St. Helens. Tanner Naes had 11 points. The Warriors got 18 points from Jamin Peters and 15 from Esias Sapp in a losing effort. ... No. 10 Estacada went on the road to beat seventh-ranked Junction City 56-48. The Rangers have advanced to the state championship site for the first time since 1979. Junction City came up short in the round of 16 for the second straight year after reaching the championship game in 2024. ... Eighth-ranked La Grande beat No. 9 Marshfield 51-44 to get back to the state tournament. The Tigers are hoping to improve on last year's sixth-place finish. The Pirates lost in the title game last year to Baker, but won't get a chance to make another run in Forest Grove.
