Clackamas has announced the hiring of Ryan McCants as football coach.

McCants, who went 33-23 in the last six seasons as the coach at Roosevelt, replaces James Holan. Last season, the former Oregon State running back guided the Roughriders to a 6-4 record and the Portland Interscholastic League title.

Holan resigned in December "to pursue a new opportunity back in California," he said. Holan compiled a 36-26 record in six seasons, including 5-6 last year.

We are thrilled to announce that Ryan McCants has been selected as the next head football coach at Clackamas High School. Coach McCants joins us from Roosevelt High School, where he established himself as a premier leader in Oregon high school football. The former Oregon State running back led the Roughriders to a 33-23 record over six seasons (27-5 in league play), highlighted by two shared PIL league titles and an outright league championship in 2025-- the first for Roosevelt in the past 30 years. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marylhurst University after graduating from OSU. Throughout a rigorous and highly competitive search process, Coach McCants emerged as the clear choice to lead the Cavaliers. He brings a wealth of experience, a sophisticated tactical approach, and a deep commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes.

Our search committee was particularly impressed by his track record of building competitive and disciplined programs that excel both on the field and in the classroom. His steadfast focus on integrity, accountability, and the values we cherish here at Clackamas High School makes him an ideal fit for our community.
