For the third consecutive tournament, one stroke separated two of the state's best 3A/2A/1A boys golfers Monday.

This time, it was Bandon junior Sevren Quinn emerging with a one-stroke victory over Crosspoint Christian senior Davis Hartwell, the two-time reigning state champion, in the 10-team Marshfield Invitational at Centennial Golf Club in Medford.

The two were tied entering the final hole before Quinn birdied to finish at 3-under-par 69. Last year, Quinn beat the Oregon State-bound Hartwell by one stroke in the district tournament and Hartwell edged Quinn by one stroke at state.

“This could be the preview of the state finals between those two,” Bandon coach Scott Millhouser said. “Sevren has aspirations of committing to a similar top Division I program, if not Oregon State, so he looks up to Davis. I think he enjoys that opportunity to compete against him.”

Quinn hit his tee shot on the 442-yard, par-four 18th hole into the right rough, but recovered to hit a nine-iron from 170 yards out to within four feet of the pin, which was tucked in the back of the green over a bunker.

“He told himself he had to hit the highest nine-iron he could hit,” Millhouser said. “It was a super-difficult hole location.”

Hartwell drove into the left rough and reached the front of the green with his approach shot, but his 50-foot putt for birdie fell about four inches short of the hole. After Hartwell tapped in, Quinn coolly dropped a four-foot putt for the win.

“He's been in those situations,” Millhouser said of Quinn, who won the Oregon Junior Amateur last June. “I think he thrives under pressure and competition, especially that head-to-head competition. It was basically match play at the end.”

Bandon, the two-time reigning state champion, shot 16-over 304 to beat Marshfield (327) and Cascade Christian (336) for the team title. Tigers junior Braedon Millhouser (74) and sophomore Jackson Simonds (76) finished third and fourth, respectively. Sophomore Trask Wehner (85) was Bandon's No. 4 scorer.

The Tigers returned their 2025 lineup except for Peyton Simonds, who tied for third at state last year and now plays at Whitworth University. Bandon set a 3A/2A/1A tournament record last year by shooting 12-over 580, including a school-record 287 on the second day.

Scott Millhouser was encouraged by the 304 on Monday.

“It's not too far off what we did last year,” he said. “We should be able to keep it right around 300 throughout the year if the boys play to their capabilities.”

Scott Millhouser said that Wehner, the team's No. 4 player, is capable of getting into the upper 70s by late in the season. Freshman Raliegh Kraynik, a standout basketball player, is showing promise, improving from 109 in his first tournament to 93 on Monday.

The Tigers opened the season March 16 against some of the state's top big-school teams in the Canby Invitational. Playing without Quinn, they finished 15th out of 20 teams. If Quinn had played, Scott Millhouser believes they would have pushed for a top-five finish.

Bandon has the pieces to win a third consecutive state title, and without a senior in the lineup, the Tigers are set up to extend their success into next year.

“Next year we could have a team that could break that record,” Scott Millhouser said. “It's just exciting now for Bandon golf. These kids are so competitive with one another, I don't think they even realize what they're doing right now.”

Rodgers' 66 leads Westview

Westview combined to fire a 1-under 287 to win a highly competitive 6A Metro League tournament Monday at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course.

Senior Jake Rodgers set the pace for the Wildcats by finishing at 6-under 66 for medalist honors. Four other players shot under par in Mountainside junior Cisse Noriyasu (67), Westview senior Kenton Docktor (69), Mountainside senior Brayden Russell (69) and Westview senior Alex Yang (70).

Westview senior Alex Lim shot 82 to complete the scoring for the Wildcats, who finished four strokes ahead of Mountainside (291). Jesuit (306) placed third.

Lakers dominate TRL tourney

Led by two-time reigning 6A champion Drew Woolworth, Lake Oswego cruised to a 14-stroke victory in a Three Rivers League tournament at Langdon Farms Golf Club on Monday.

Woolworth, a senior, was the medalist at 4-under 67. The Lakers shot an even-par 284 to finish first out of six teams, ahead of West Linn (298) and Tigard (304).

Lake Oswego senior Nate Cheriel and Tigard sophomore Jake Barney tied for second at 70. Tigard junior Luke Barney and Lake Oswego junior Nathan Pai tied for third at 71.

Senior Jimmy Keyser (76) was the final scorer for the Lakers, last year's 6A champions.

Generals Invitational

Canby sophomore Connor Holden and Lincoln sophomore Mateo Gramstad each shot 2-under 69 to share first place in the 19-team Generals Invitational at Columbia Edgewater Country Club on Monday.

Holden, the reigning 5A champion, and Gramstad finished ahead of Sherwood sophomore Hudson O'Connell (70), Canby junior Mason Debruyn (73) and Sherwood senior Tiger Lu (73).

Sherwood (299) outscored Central Catholic (313), Nelson (316) and Barlow (321) to win the tournament.
