2019 pre-season 5A football coaches poll

OSAAtoday presents its first statewide 5A football poll of 2019. Thanks to all the coaches who took the time and had the expertise to contribute their opinions to this endeavor.

The pre-season 6A and 5A polls will be released today. OSAAtoday will publish the pre-season 4A and 3A polls on Tuesday and the pre-season 2A, 1A (8-man) and 1A (6-man) polls on Wednesday.

Look for the 5A football poll every Tuesday during the fall season.

Please note: these polls are for generating interest and discussion only and have no impact on the OSAA’s RPI and Colley ratings that form the basis of the OSAA’s rankings for playoff purposes.

Notes: Thurston won its first state championship in school history last season when it defeated Wilsonville 30-27 in the final, twice blocking potential game-tying field goals with one second left. ... Wilsonville, runner-up in 2016 and 2018, has made the final four the last four seasons. The Wildcats' only title came in 2004. ... On opening night Sept. 6, Churchill visits Thurston.
