On Saturday, 17 dance teams competed in an event at Stayton.
Performing its piece, the “Fabric of Time,” Valley Catholic finished first out of five teams in the 1-4A division. The Charisma earned a score of 78.60, which was also the highest score of the competition. Philomath (73.13) finished second, followed by Gladstone (72.70), Marshfield (72.27), and Grant Union (57.97).
In the Show division, Sheldon, competing for the second week in a row, earned first place with a score of 75.37. Sprague, debuting its show “The Domino Effect,” finished second (71.97), followed closely by Putnam’s performance of “Ascending” (70.70).
Three teams competed in the 6A division. Liberty earned first place (65.03) for its routine “The Heist: Stealing Back Time.” Benson finished second (59.70) followed by McNary’s performance of “Restart” (56.30).
It was a competitive race in the 5A division with six teams performing. West Albany topped the division be earning a score of 77.63, with Milwaukie closely behind (77.00). Silverton’s debut performance of its routine, “Shine,” earned third place (75.10). South Albany (74.77), Crook County (74.30), and Lebanon (73.57) rounded out the division.
Teams in the 4-1A, 5A, 6A, and Show divisions will compete on Feb. 15 at Thurston and Tigard.
