Forty-eight volleyball teams over six classifications punched their tickets to the OSAA state tournament yesterday. Here’s how they did it, based on reports received. We will add more highlights as we receive them.

The state tournaments begin at three separate sites on Friday.

6A

Jesuit 3, South Eugene 0 -- Rose Booth had 19 kills while hitting .643 and Allison Buchholz averaged 13 assists per set in the fast sweep for the top-seeded Crusaders.

Sunset 3, Lake Oswego 1 – Lake Oswego, playing its best volleyball of the season, threw a scare into the second-seeded Apollos for the first two sets before falling on the road. Paige Monaghan had 41 assists for Sunset, many to Sophie Summers, who finished with 16 kills.

Central Catholic 3, Tualatin 0 – After a sluggish start, the third-seeded Rams got clicking and dominated at the net.Bella Scarlett and Mia Jordan combined for 24 kills in the win.

West Linn 3, Clackamas 1 – Sophomore middle Makayla Long had five kills and assisted on a block with fellow sophomore Audra Wilmes to break open a close second set for the Lions, who used superior ball control to win the final three sets to advance to state for the second straight year. Long finished with 19 kills and eight blocks and hit .517. “We executed what we worked on in practice and used their weaknesses to our advantage,” said West Linn coach Michelle Hoover.

Sheldon 3, Mountainside 2 – Mackenzy Borek had 17 kills and Emma Neuman added 12 kills and four blocks as the Irish rallied from two sets down on the road to qualify for the state tournament.

Sprague 3, Bend 0 – Sprague defeated Bend, the reigning Oregon 5A champions, for the third time this season to qualify for the state tournament. Haley Silva served six aces and had the Lava Bears on their heels all night and both Bridgette Smith (15 kills, 15 digs) and Morgan Doll (11 kills, 17 digs) recorded double doubles for the Olympians.

Summit 3, Southridge 1 – Hannah Sauer had 13 kills and seven digs as the Storm, playing this year in 6A after finishing runner up in 5A a year ago, eliminated the defending 6A champions in four sets.

Sandy 3, Lincoln 0 – The Pioneers got down early in the first set to Lincoln, then controlled the play the rest of the way to advance to the state tournament in their first year back in 6A. Senior OH Rylee Sneath had nine kills and 18 digs and Brooke Dodge had seven kills, 21 assists and seven digs to lead the way.

5A

Corvallis 3, St. Helens 0 – Ryann Gregg had 18 kills and Kylynn Quinn dished out 30 assists for the top seeds in the sweep.

West Albany 3, Putnam 0 –Aggressive serving and great defense sparked the Bulldogs to the home win. West Albany had 60 digs in the three-set match, led by Sydney Backer, who had 26 saves and also served two of the team’s 10 aces. Elijah Sanders and Courtney Isom teamed for 29 assists.

Crater 3, Lebanon 0 -- Great defense led by from Rane Jensen (11 digs; 2.3 passing) stopped Lebanon from scoring and Addison Lowder and Nehkyah Ellis combined for 26 Crater kills in the sweep.

Wilsonville 3, Silverton 2 -- Wilsonville had to work hard to overcome Liza Dahl and the Silverton Foxes. Lindsey Hartford led the way with 14 kills for the Wildcats but tough serving, especially in the decisive fifth set, proved to be the X-factor in the win.

Dallas 3, Churchill 1 – Hailey Van Well had 22 kills and 24 digs and Emma Classen contributed 37 assists and 14 digs for the Dragons, who won the first two sets, dropped the third but rallied in the fourth to close out the match.

Ridgeview 3, Thurston 1 – Rylee Troutman had 32 kills and 20 digs for the host Ravens, who were knotted with Thurston at a set apiece before winning the final two sets at deuce to advance to the elite eight. Kaitlin Haas finished her senior season by recording 15 kills, 12 digs, four aces and two blocks for visiting Thurston in the loss.

Crook County 3, North Eugene 2 – Raegan Wilkins had 26 kills and Mekynzie Wells contributed 32 digs as the Cowgirls rallied from down two sets to one to get past visiting North Eugene in Prineville. “It came down to who wanted it,” Crook County coach Baylee Dunkel told a local paper. “The girls fought probably harder than I’ve ever seen them fight.”

Hood River Valley 3, La Salle Prep --- Katie Kennedy had 31 kills and 16 digs and Chloe Kurahara recorded 31 assists for the Eagles, who overcame a Game 1 loss to the Falcons by limiting runs and effectively siding out to win the final three sets.

4A

Valley Catholic 3, Baker 0 -- The top-seeded Valiants had 16 aces in the sweep. Kayla Robbins, the team's lone senior playing her last match at home, led the offense with 14 kills.

Sweet Home 3, North Marion 0 – The young Huskies battled nerves early before settling in for the sweep over a taller, more experienced North Marion team in a match played in an electric atmosphere at Sweet Home.

Cottage Grove 3, Banks 0 – Cottage Grove rallied to take the first set then rolled at home behind 37 assists and six kills from setter Lauren Witty and a double-double (11 kills, 10 digs) from Cassidy Herbert. "I am extremely proud of our team tonight,” said coach Kendra Anderson. “Our setter, Lauren Witty did a phenomenal job of utilizing our hitters and running the offense. Everyone stepped up tonight and we played well as a team."

Hidden Valley 3, Philomath 1 -- The teams split the first two sets before host Hidden Valley dominated the last two to claim the four-set win. Claire Skinkis shined with 25 digs in the loss for Philomath.

Sisters 3, Marist Catholic 0 – Addy Myhre served six straight points to close out the first set as the defending 4A champs swept to return to the state tournament. Ellie Rush had 24 assists and three aces to lead the way. Britney Duvall had 11 kills for Marist in the loss.

Tillamook 3, Henley 0 -- Tillamook had 30 kills in the match, Henley nine fewer. In a contest that was neck and neck for the first two sets -- two-point wins for the Cheesemakers -- that may have proved the difference.

Junction City 3, Estacada 1 -- Taylor Jobe had 10 kills and 17 digs and Jessica Puderbaugh recorded 35 assists in Junction City’s four-set win over the higher-seeded Rangers.

La Grande 3, Marshfield 2 – The Tigers lost the first two sets and trailed 11-8 in the third before embarking on a furious rally. Jayce Seavert and Presley Justice combined for 30 kills and 54 digs in the win. Alex Locati had 17 kills and 10 digs for Marshfield in the loss.

3A

Cascade Christian 3, Rainier 0 – Strong serving and a balanced attack led the top seeds start to finish at home. Caroline McMahon led the way with eight kills, eight aces and 13 digs.

Santiam Christian 3, Warrenton 0 – Kassie Staton and Emily Bourne were effective on the pin as Santiam Christian advanced to the state tournament with the home win.

South Umpqua 3, Irrigon 0 – Jenna Whitmore had eight kills, seven blocks and 10 digs as the Lancers overcame scrappy Irrigon in three at home.

Salem Acad. 3, Vale 0 -- Emmy Johnson had 18 digs but Vale fell at Salem Academy.

Blanchet Catholic 3, Oregon Episcopal School 0 – Kalea Salang and Shelby Halfman had eight kills each and Ally Jones contributed 18 digs and three aces in the win.

Horizon Christian, Tualatin 3, St. Mary’s, Medford 0 – Big blocking by middles Jacie Forrester and Kathi Graham helped spark Horizon Christian to the home win.

Creswell 3, Catlin Gabel 1 -- Breanna Dapron had 13 kills, eight digs and two aces and Bailey Howell had nine kills, nine assists and 10 digs for the higher-seeded Bulldogs in the four-set win on the road.

Burns 3, Harrisburg 0 – Allie Hueckman had 17 kills, 22 digs and served an ace on match point for the victorious Hilanders. Duran Jelden had 18 kills, 21 digs and three blocks for Harrisburg.

2A

Kennedy 3, Reedsport 0 – Hallie Sprauer had 15 kills and Sophia Carley added 11 kills and six aces as top-seeded Kennedy cruised to the home win. Riley Wright had five blocks in the loss for Reedsport, which played the top seeds close in the first set.

Grant Union 3, Bonanza 0 – Kaylee Wright and Sydney Brockway teamed for 21 kills in the sweep for the host Prospectors.

Central Linn 3, Union 0

Portland Christian 3, Heppner 0 -- Simone Gordon, the NWL Player of the Year, led the charge for PC, dominating the kill and block totals as the senior-led Royals controlled the match start to finish. Senior setter Skylar Scott also shined for PC.

Weston-McEwen 3, Regis 0 – Weston-McEwen controlled the match at home with proficient serving and passing. Bryce Thul had 17 assists and eight kills to lead the way.

Oakridge 3, Gaston 0 – Three Warriors had double-doubles (Raelynn Hammock – 14 kills, 16 digs; Vanessa Wilson, 10 kills, 10 digs; McKenzie Dail (14 assists, 10 digs) in Oakridge’s balanced performance at home.

Coquille 3, Vernonia 2 – Coquille fought off two match points in the third set before rallying for the win. Grace Sinclair led the victors with 18 kills and 17 digs.

Glide 3, Culver 0 – Culver started strongly in every set but long runs by Glide proved the difference at Glide. Madison Miller had a career-high seven blocks in the loss.

St. Paul 3, Crane 0 -- Crane battled through ankle injuries to give top-seeded St. Paul a competitive match on the road. In the end. St. Paul dominated behind the service line to win. Karlee Southerland was very effective, delivering 24 error-less serves with five aces. She also contributed 21 assists.

Powder Valley 3, Damascus Christian 0 – Power Valley had to work for the sweep. The Badgers won a back and forth first set, 26-24, then rallied from being down by seven in the second to take control. “What a great night,” coach Marji Lind exclaimed. “They gym was full of energy, as both teams were well represented. However, when the final point was scored, the gym erupted! The look on the girls’ faces, as the goal that 12 wonderful young women had set at the very beginning of the season, have focused and worked so hard for of achieve had come to fruition. Priceless!”

Hosanna Christian 3, Jordan Valley 0 – Jade Jackson had 13 kills and Miriam Levesque and Ellie Niehaus had 12 each in the four-set win. Hannah Ledgerwood contributed 43 assists, tied for most all-time in school history.

North Douglas 3, Adrian 1 -- Ariana Helgren had 22 kills and 31 digs, Abby Whipple contributed 24 digs, 14 kills and 24 assists and Nicki Derrick recorded 29 assists, 23 digs and seven aces as North Douglas advanced to the state tournament for the fifth consecutive season.

Days Creek 3, Alsea 1 – Moriah Michaels had 21 kills and 12 digs and Kyla Crume and Megan Kruzic teamed for 46 assists in the win. Megan Harper had 15 kills and six stuff blocks in a losing effort at Days Creek.

Crosshill Christian 3, McKenzie 1 – Abby Bartel served Crosshill Christian to an 8-0 start to the fourth set and the Eagles pulled away to complete the four-set win. Bartel and Ellie Schanz led the offense while Grace Treadwell was superb passing and digging from the back row. Jade Hayes had 17 kills, 22 digs and three aces for McKenzie.

Joseph 3, Country Christian 2 -- "The last set was played with sheer determination by the Joseph girls," said head coach Jill Hite, whose team was paced by Sabrina Albee's 12 kills and eight digs. Emma Hite added eight kills, six digs and four blocks.

Perrydale 3, South Wasco County 1 -- Alyssa Lux and Sydney Lawrence each had 11 kills and Kenzy Lawrence was everywhere defensively (29 digs) for the victors.
