A look at Wednesday's 3A and 1A first-round games in the OSAA / OnPoint Community Credit Union Girls Basketball State Championships

Horizon Christian (Tualatin) 45, Riverdale / Riverside 36: Disciplined defense and 26 Alexis Dockter points carried the Hawks to the upset victory on the road over talented Riverdale.

Valley Catholic 40, Taft 35: In a back-and-forth physical battle, visiting Taft battled to within 37-35 with one minute remaining. Valley Catholic got a huge basket with 30 ticks remaining to preserve the win. Caitlin Queen led the victorious Valiants with 11 points. Aliviah Mode had 10 to pace the Tigers.

Burns 52, North Valley 32

Sisters 60, Warrenton 48: Sisters came from 10 points down on the road to win. Jenna Lake and Ila Reid teamed for 32 points for the Outlaws.

Crane 72, Eddyville Charter 30: The top seeds worked and had fun against a well-coached Eddyville team. Kortney Doman led the way with 16 points.

Trout Lake / Glenwood 43, Mohawk 16

Imbler 57, Ione / Arlington 26: Defensive pressure and a laser focus helped Imbler make a successful playoff debut. Rachael Stirewalt had 18 points and Paiten Braseth chipped in with 12 for the home team.

North Lake / Paisley 54, Prairie Lake / Burnt River 42: North Lake won the battle of the backslashes by rallying from 10 down midway through the third quarter to win, the first playoff win for North Lake in a long, long time. Emily Murphy had a huge night for the victors, with 27 points, 11 rebounds and six steals.

St. Paul 43, Wallowa 36: Audra Rose scored 26, with 17 rebounds, for the Buckaroos in the challenging game. Zoe Hermens and Sophie Moeller combined for 25 points and 12 steals in the loss.

New Hope Christian 46, Southwest Christian 33: New Hope started slowly but gained steam when its defense picked up. The Warriors were able to pull ahead against a tough opponent with key shots from range and in the paint. Ava Barnett led the way offensively for the victorious home team.

Union 44, Myrtle Point 36

Country Christian 66, Camas Valley 29:  Lilly Garfield scored 14 points and 10 girls scored for host Country Christian, whose deep bench played the entire fourth quarter. The Cougars shot well from deep and in close, rebounded and defended well and played a complete game in the convincing win.

Jordan Valley 64, Spray / Mitchell / Wheeler 31

Echo 68, Adrian 57: Echo built a commanding 22-point lead after three quarters and held on for the win. Mayela De La Fuente scored 15 for the winners and Ally Brown scored four points in the last 30 seconds to finally put an end to Adrian's rally. Addison Martin scored 24 in the loss for the Antelopes.

Chiloquin 57, Joseph 51

Powder Valley 51, C.S. Lewis Academy 19: Powder Valley scored 19 straight points to open the second quarter, breaking open a close game. The Badgers extended their winning streak to 12 straight games.

North Clackamas Christian 48, Powers 44: Kaylee Turner scored 15 points and dished out five assists for the Saints, who won a tight one in front of a loud home crowd. Lily Shorb and Danika Russell scored in double figures for Powers.

Umpqua Valley Christian 43, Bonanza 42: Vienna Tornell scored 13 points and UVC held on for the win after building a 17-point lead midway through the second quarter.

Crosshill Christian 39, South Wasco County 32

North Douglas 58, Mapleton 30: North Douglas was a little sluggish but pulled through thanks to a full team effort. Brooklyn Cyr had a game-high 26 points in the home win.
