INDIANAPOLIS, IN (November 3, 2025) – Dr. Jennifer Kubista, superintendent of the Central School District (CSD) in Independence, Oregon, has been named to an at-large position on the NFHS Board of Directors. Kubista is the new Sections 5-8 at-large representative on the 12-person Board of Directors, and she is filling an unexpired term that runs to 2029.
Kubista joined the Central School District as superintendent in 2017 after 14 years as an administrator in the Tacoma (Washington) Public Schools. During her time in Tacoma, she led efforts to reinstate middle school sports, expand opportunities for female athletes and coordinate district-wide and state championships.
In her current position as CSD superintendent, Kubista has expanded the K-12 academic and enrichment programs, including summer learning and before- and after-school initiatives in support of the development of the whole child.
Kubista is currently serving as president of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) Executive Board and is past president of the Oregon ASCD (Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development), which has been renamed the Northwest Teaching, Learning and Leading (NWTLL). She also was appointed to the Coalition of Oregon School Administrators (COSA) Equity Board, and she was honored as an ASCD Emerging Leader in 2014 and the Monmouth-Independence Educator of the Year in 2020.
