WILSONVILLE – The start of the fall season contributed to a day full of activity for the OSAA Executive Board. The group took multiple actions, including several around participation limits, at its Sept. 14, 2026, board meeting.

Approved proposals from the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association (OACA) adjusted individual participation limits for 2A basketball and wrestling. 2A basketball players are now allowed to play six quarters in a day which mirrors a similar policy change implemented at the 1A classification in 2025-26. Proponents of the proposal believe this allows 2A schools to consistently offer full sub-varsity games.

A significant change was to eliminate team participation limits for wrestling in a move that allows wrestling programs greater flexibility of which meets they can send wrestlers to. The individual participation limit will remain at 50 individual matches across 14 events, and the change removed the daily weigh-in limitation.

The executive board also adopted ticket prices for the 2026-27 year, the playoff reimbursement formula, as well as fall playoff allocations for 3A, 2A/1A boys soccer; 3A/2A/1A girls soccer and 1A-6 football.

At the conclusion of the classification and districting process in 2025, the classification and districting committee recommended the board reconvene the Computation of ADM Task Force. Monday’s meeting marked the first step of that process after the board approved the task force’s roster and charge. The 14-person task force includes seven administrators and coaches from the 6A/5A/4A classifications and seven from the 3A/2A/1A classifications. Executive board vice president, George Mendoza (Superintendent of La Grande SD) will serve in an ex-officio capacity. The task force is to review the computation formula used by the OSAA to classify schools, including additional criteria to consider.

The meeting schedule for the task force will be determined at a later date.
