Boys Volleyball Playoff Qualifications

Culminating Event (Unofficial State Tournament)

The OSAA is not sponsoring or hosting a boys volleyball state championship. A culminating event is being organized by Oregon High School Boys Volleyball and is not direct affiliated with the OSAA.

Leagues are asked to create a fair and balanced League/Special District schedule as each Special District will have 1 or 2 automatic qualifiers for the culminating event (the top 1/3 of teams in their Special District will qualify automatically, see qualificaitons below).

  • The rankings will freeze at 10pm on Saturday, May 17
  • Culminating events will be split into four (4) division brackets: 6A, 5A, 4A, and 3A/2A/1A
  • Tournament venue for final-site (quarterfinals through finals) is Olympus Sports Center, Hillsboro Oregon
  • All matches will be best 3 of 5
  • 4 Sessions, Ticket prices $12 adults and $6 students per session
  • Daily pass $20 adults or $10 students
  • OSAA Gold Passes / OSAA VIP Passes will be honored
  • Medals awarded to championship players and coaches
  • Top 6 teams get trophies at all 4 classification levels
  • Coach of the Year Trophy at all 4 classification levels
  • Sportsmanship Trophy at all 4 classification levels

6A

16-team bracket

  • 16 teams qualify (automatic qualifiers + highest ranked teams)
  • First Round at higher ranked school on Wed., May 21 (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc)
  • Top 8 schools advance to Quarterfinals at Olympus Sports Center, Hillsboro, OR
  • Quarterfinals and Semifinals / Consolation Semifinals on May 24
  • Final matches 7th / 4th / 3rd / 1st on May 25

5A

8-team bracket

  • 8 teams qualify (automatic qualifiers + highest ranked teams)
  • Quarterfinals and Semifinals / Consolation Semifinals on May 24
  • Final matches 7th / 4th / 3rd / 1st on May 25

4A

8-team bracket

  • 8 teams qualify (automatic qualifiers + highest ranked teams)
  • Quarterfinals and Semifinals / Consolation Semifinals on May 24
  • Final matches 7th / 4th / 3rd / 1st on May 25

3A/2A/1A

12-team bracket

  • 12 teams qualify (automatic qualifiers + highest ranked teams)
  • Top 4 teams have a first round bye
  • First Round at higher ranked school on Tues., May 20 (5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9)
  • Quaterfinals at higher ranked school on Thurs., May 22 (1 vs 8/9, 2 vs 7/10, 3 vs 6/11, 4 vs 5/12)
  • Semifinals / Consolation Semifinals and Final matches 7th / 4th / 3rd / 1st on May 25
